The Institut für Kulturpolitik (IfK) is an application-orientated research institute and advises politicians, administrators, associations and culture makers on cultural policy issues.

It stands for action-oriented cultural policy research and empirically based cultural reporting.

Since 2006, the Institute for Cultural Policy has been researching, documenting and providing information on all developments and future issues of cultural policy, thus contributing to the transformation of the cultural infrastructure in Germany. It collects and evaluates data, compiles studies and reports, initiates and accompanies processes and advises actors from politics and administration. In addition, the Institute for Cultural Policy qualifies and networks cultural policy actors and stimulates expert debates. In this way, it contributes to the transfer of knowledge and to greater public awareness of cultural policy issues.

The close connection between the Institute for Cultural Policy and the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft e. V. ensures that the association’s members transfer the Institute’s research findings into practice via their networks and communicate them to the relevant target groups.
